Sendai Toshogu Shrine, a National Designated Important Cultural Property

The Sendai Toshogu Shrine, established in 1654 by Date Tadamune, the successor to Date Masamune, the first lord of the Sendai domain, is a shrine that enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu. It is one of the significant Toshogu shrines, alongside Nikko Toshogu and Kunozan Toshogu. After the death of Date Masamune, the Sendai domain overcame numerous difficulties, and the shrine was established as a symbol of gratitude and reverence.
